Buku teks sejarah akan ditulis semula bagi menyelaraskannya dengan fakta dan bukannya mitos dan legenda, kata pakar sejarah Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Khoo Kay Kim.

Sebagai contoh, katanya, tiada rekod menunjukkan laksamana Melaka Hang Tuan dan Hang Jebat serta Puteri Hang Li Po benar-benar wujud, lapor The Star.

Khoo (kanan) yang juga sebahagian daripada anggota jawatankuasa bagi menganalisis kurikulum itu berkata, cakap-cakap tidak wajar dimasukkan sebagai fakta dalam buku teks.

“Agenda utama jawatankuasa ini untuk menanamkan unsur patriotisme” (di kalangan pelajar)

“Pandangan peribadi saya, mitos dan legenda tidak patut dimasukkan dalam kurikulum.

“Bagaimanapun, jika mereka pilih memasukkannya, ia mesti dengan jelas menyatakan bahawa cerita-cerita itu bukan berasaskan fakta,” beliau dipetik sebagai berkata kepada harian berbahasa Inggeris itu.
